Digital Equity Outreach Grant

River Valley Commons, the sponsor of the River Valley Broadband Coalition, has received a Digital Equity Outreach Grant to learn more about the barriers to technology and broadband usage for those over 60 in our area.

Based on what is learned, we may develop training, support, and other programs to help those in our area overcome these barriers.

Over the next few months, we will collect data through focus groups and surveys. The data we collect will become part of a statewide plan that will allow Wisconsin to receive federal funds to help meet the digital needs of residents.

We are looking for 6-10 “deployment champions” to help us with this work.

What are deployment champions?
Deployment champions are community members who attend events, contact individuals, and otherwise encourage participation in the Digital Outreach Grant project. Deployment champions may be engaged with other broadband activities, too.

What is the commitment for a Deployment Champion?
The Digital Equity Grant project runs from now until August. Deployment champions are expected to:

  • Participate in an initial orientation meeting.

  • Go to community events to gather data.

  • Reach out to their network to encourage others to complete surveys.

  • Provide feedback to the project manager about data gathering tools, experiences, etc.

  • Participate in a debrief meeting at the end of the grant period.

We anticipate the deployment champions will spend approximately 3-5 hours between July and August on grant activities.
